Wheat Price Hike: After the rise in the prices of wheat and flour, the central government has swung into action. The central government has held an important meeting with all the state governments in order to crack down on the rising prices of wheat and to increase its availability in the market. Food Secretary Sanjeev Chopra held a meeting with the food secretaries of the states through video conferencing, in which the Center has discussed with the food secretaries of the states about strict compliance of the stock limit of wheat.

In this meeting, the central government has asked the states to get the details of wheat stock from wholesalers, retailers, traders, big chain retailers and processors. So that hoarding can be banned and the actual availability of wheat can be ascertained. (But they have been asked to share the stock data. If these stockists have more wheat than the prescribed limit, then they will have to bring the stock within the prescribed limit within 30 days from the date of issue of the notification.

During the meeting, the government along with the state governments informed about the decision to sell wheat and rice in the domestic market under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS). In the first phase, 15 lakh metric tonnes of wheat will be sold in the open market. So that the prices of wheat and rice can be brought under control in the domestic market. It is the effort of the government to make wheat and rice available to the people at cheap prices.

On Monday itself, the central government has fixed the stock holding limit for wholesalers, retailers, traders, big chain retailers and processors for the purpose of stopping the rising prices of wheat and its hoarding and hoarding. The government has decided to sell wheat and rice in the domestic market under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS) to check rising prices in the domestic market.
