New Generation Toyota Fortuner: Japanese automaker Toyota Kirloskar recently conducted a successful demo run of the Hilux Emile Hybrid Electric Concept at Kasarani during the 7th round of the World Rally Championship in Kenya. The concept was driven by Finland’s Juha Kankkunen, a four-time WRC champion and former Toyota world title winner, while well-known Kenyan media personality, Jimmy Gathu, was in the co-driver seat. Toyota’s 48-V mild hybrid technology will be offered only in the high-end Hilux variant from 2024.

The diesel mild hybrid setup will get a small electric motor and a 2.8L turbo diesel engine along with a 48V battery. This 4-cylinder, 1GD-FTV series oil burner is mated to an AC60F 6-speed automatic gearbox. Toyota’s new mild hybrid technology is claimed to deliver 10% better fuel efficiency. The same powertrain will also be offered on the new generation Toyota Fortuner, which will be launched in 2024. While its diesel mild hybrid powertrain will be taken from the new Hilux MHEV. The design of the SUV will be newly inspired.

Will be equipped with ADAS

The 2024 Toyota Fortuner will be designed on an all-new platform and is likely to get Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology. In which features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, automatic parking assist, lane departure assist, blind spot detection and front collision alert will be available. Along with this, more new features will be available in New Generation Fortuner.

Price

Due to all the major upgrades, the price of the new 2024 Toyota Fortuner will also increase. The current model lineup of this SUV is available in 7 variants, whose ex-showroom price ranges from Rs 32.59 lakh to Rs 50.34 lakh. Apart from the new Fortuner, Toyota will soon be bringing the Maruti Fronx-based compact crossover and a new 7-seater SUV based on the Corolla Cross to the Indian market.

who will compete

The new Fortuner will compete with the MG Gloster, which gets a 2.0L turbo diesel engine with a lot of advanced features.
