As part of a relationship with the Pandit Jagat Ram Memorial FORCE Trust, the PepsiCo Foundation announced on Monday that it would contribute USD 4,000,00 to the expansion of its safe water access and sustainable sanitation initiative in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The Jal Jeevan Campaign, Jal Shakti Mission, and Swachh Bharat Mission are the three central government priority campaigns with which this project is in line, according to a statement from the Foundation.
Over the course of three years, the PepsiCo Foundation will assist in improving access to pure water for drinking and domestic needs, benefiting approximately 20,000 individuals and 3,000 children in 13 villages in the Mathura area. The alliance will also promote WASH awareness, which focuses on sanitation, solid waste management, and hygiene practises with an impact on 50,000 people, including 3,000 children, and water quality, safety, and personal health behaviours.
“This investment is a natural extension of our global goal to be net water positive by 2030, helping replenish more water than we use and is a key pillar of our purpose programme,” PepsiCo India President Ahmed ElSheikh said. Since August 2021, PepsiCo and the PepsiCo Foundation have created more than a dozen new programmes to reform the company’s water-use efficiency, replenishment, and safe water access efforts.
