Hyundai Ioniq 5 High Performance variant: Testing of the high-performance version of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV is in its last stages. Named Ioniq 5N, it will make its global debut on July 13, and will be the first high-performance all-electric Hyundai model. The South Korean carmaker is testing the Ioniq 5 N at the Nurburgring racetrack in Germany.
Ionic 5N performance
Hyundai is yet to reveal the power or powertrain details, but it is learned that the Ioniq 5 N will get bigger, 400 mm disc brakes, which will be made of new lightweight material. Hyundai has also tweaked the regenerative braking system of the Ioniq 5N as it will now have a maximum decelerating force of 0.6G.
Hyundai has updated the cooling system in the Ioniq 5 N by giving it a larger cooling area. It also gets new N-specific radiator packaging, new motor oil-cooler and a battery cooler. All these will be controlled by N battery preconditioning and a new temperature management system called N Race. The first will adjust the battery temperature and will get two modes like drag and track. The N Race will also have two modes – Sprint and Endurance – that will change the way electricity is distributed to control temperature rise.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Features
The Hyundai Ionic 5 N will also come with N Active Sound+ which will get a 10-speaker system with eight internal speakers and two external speakers. These speakers can mimic the sounds of ICE engines, electric vehicles and fighter jets using three sounds namely Ignition, Evolution and Supersonic respectively.

The performance version of the Ioniq 5 will also get N e-Shift, which works in tandem with N Active Sound+ mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This function adapts to gearshifts by controlling the torque output of the motor and reduces the jerks felt between shifts.

Hyundai has tested the Ioniq 5 N for over 10,000 kms under various extreme conditions. The company plans to test this high-performance EV for 10,000 km before putting it into production. The global debut of the Ioniq 5 N will be done on July 13 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 in India
Hyundai currently sells the standard Ioniq 5 in India, which is priced at Rs 45.95 lakh, ex-showroom. The company also sells N Line editions of the i20 and Venue. In which some more performance centric features are available as compared to the standard model.

In India, this car competes with BYD Atto 3 EV, which gets a 60.48 kWh battery pack. Its price starts from Rs.33.99 lakhs.
