Tata Motors showcased the Punch CNG for the first time at the Auto Expo earlier this year. The Punch iCNG will be powered by the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine as the outgoing model, which will be mated to a CNG kit. This car will generate 73 Bhp power and 103 Nm torque on CNG. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Tata Motors will also use the dual cylinder CNG set-up with the Altroz CNG in this car. In this new technology, the 60-litre tank is divided into two cylinders. Due to which both have been placed under the boot floor with ample boot space. It is expected to get similar mileage to the Altroz iCNG.

The interiors of the Punch CNG will remain the same as the petrol version. However, it will get ‘i-CNG’ badging on the tailgate from outside. It is likely to get digital driver display, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and sunroof as features.

price and competition

Currently, the ex-showroom price of the petrol variant of Tata Punch ranges from Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.52 lakh. However, its CNG version is likely to cost Rs. 1 lakh more than its current price. In the Indian market, this car will compete with the recently launched Hyundai Xtor, which gets a 1.2 L petrol engine factory fattened CNG kit.
