Upcoming Tata Punch iCNG: Tata Motors is rapidly strengthening its CNG portfolio and soon the launch of Tata Punch ICNG can be seen. Recently, a test module of this car was spotted on the Mumbai-Pune highway during testing, which was not covered.
The curtain from the CNG variant of this compact SUV was removed at the Auto Expo held in the country in January this year. Along with it, Tata’s Ultraz CNG was also there, which has been launched some time back. Tata Punch ICNG will be the fourth offering from the company to be offered with factory fitted CNG.
The spotted test module was in white colour, with an ICNG badge on its tail gate which was covered with tape. Apart from this, the spare wheel can also be seen in the photo, which is set below the car. Due to which it is confirmed that it will also be introduced with dual cylinder technology. Which will be the first SUV in this segment.
The company has recently introduced its ICNG Tata Ultraz with dual cylinder setup, which is also very practical and with good boot space. The same bean setup will be seen in Tata Punch as well.
On the other hand, talking about the engine found in it, it will be a 1.2l three-cylinder engine which can be combined with a 5-speed manual transmission. This engine will be capable of generating 86hp power and 113Nm peak torque. Apart from this, this car can also be started on direct CNG. This option is currently not available in any of its rival vehicles.
Apart from this, the exteriors and interiors will be kept similar to the petrol variants. After its launch, it will compete with Hyundai Xtor, which is going to be launched on 10th July.
The Xeter will be the first SUV in its segment to be offered with factory fitted CNG. Although the testing of Tata Punch is also going on, which will soon give a tough competition.
