Top Selling SUVs: The SUV segment is one of the fastest growing vehicle segments in India. The reason for the popularity of the SUV segment is the high ground clearance and great user experience. There is a huge sale every month in this segment. Talking about May 2023, a total of 54,366 mid-size SUVs were sold in the top 10 best selling models in India. This means there has been an increase of 56 percent in sales on an annual basis. In this, except for only three SUVs, all other models have registered huge growth on a yearly basis.
Hyundai Creta
Hyundai Creta is at number one with sales of 14,449 units in May 2023, which has seen an increase of 32 percent on a year-on-year basis. The Hyundai Creta is currently available with manual and automatic transmission and two powertrain options, which include a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.
Mahindra Scorpio
The Mahindra Scorpio was the second best-selling mid-size SUV in the country last month with sales of 9,318 units, registering a growth of 114 percent. It is one of the best selling models for the company. For this, waiting period ranging from 6 months to 18 months is available depending on the variant.
Maruti Grand Vitara
Last month, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has secured the third position in terms of sales, and during this period it sold 8,877 units. The Grand Vitara is available with petrol-hybrid and CNG engines.
Mahindra XUV 700
Mahindra SUV XUV700 stood at the fourth position with sales of 5,245 units last month. The SUV was introduced in the market as a feature loaded disruptor. Its sales saw a growth of 3 percent year-on-year.
Kia Seltos
With 4,065 units sold, the popular Kia Seltos saw a 32 per cent decline in sales and stood at the fifth position. The company is about to launch the facelifted Seltos next month with a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It will also get updated technology, sunroof and many safety features.
