Next Generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado: Toyota has recently released a teaser of its Next Generation Land Cruiser Prado SUV through its social media handle. The SUV will make its global debut later this year. This SUV will be the fifth series to come with the ‘Prado’ nameplate. The Japanese automaker has also shared a picture of the original Prado model, the FJ40 Land Cruiser, which was launched in the 1960s. This will be the biggest upgrade over the current fourth generation Prado that went on sale in 2009.
Next Gen Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Design
The teaser image makes no attempt to hide it, its boxy silhouette makes it clear that the design of the next generation Prado has been inspired by the new Lexus GX. The straight pillars and the plain roof suggest that Toyota will continue with the strong traditional SUV styling for it. It will be a bigger bike than the current model.
The new Prado will also share the platform with the Lexus GX. The GX is built on the TNGA-F platform. Some of its body panels will also be seen in the new Prado. Despite many similarities, the new generation Prado will be very different from the SUV from Lexus with styling touches from Toyota. Its cabin can also be quite different from inside.
Next Gen Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Powertrain
As of now nothing has been officially revealed about the powertrain of the new Prado. However, the company can offer it with multiple engine options in both petrol and diesel depending on different markets. It will get multiple transmission options.
Land Cruiser Prado Indian Launch?
Sales of the fifth generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado may first start in North America next year. However, the launch timeline has not been disclosed yet. No official date has been revealed till now. In America it will be sold only under the name of Land Cruiser. Although it will not be brought in India before 2025. Its ex-showroom price in India is likely to exceed Rs 1.0 crore.
who will compete
This SUV will compete with the Volvo XC90 SUV, which gets a 2.0L petrol engine with a hybrid powertrain system. All wheel drive system is available in this car. Its ex-showroom price is around Rs 1 crore.
