Maruti Invicto Review: Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest vehicle manufacturer, has now learned to change with the times. Currently, the company’s best-selling car is the Baleno, along with which the company also holds a large market share in the Rs 10 to 20 lakh segment. The company sells all premium cars through its Nexa sales channel. Now the company wants to expand it further, for which it is taking Toyota’s cooperation. in partnership with both glanza/Baleno and Highrider/Grand Vitara are already doing well in the market. After this, the company has now launched its most premium vehicle in the market, which is a rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Highcross. However, Maruti has made a lot of changes in this Nexa product.
Design
With the heavy chrome front, the Invicto gets a different front look with three block LED DRLs. The skid plate has also been changed along with the bumper. From the front, the Invicto looks like an SUV. The elongated MPV gets new 17-inch alloy wheels while the rear styling gets new tail-lamps with more chrome. Compared to the Highcross, the Invicto gets more chrome elements which further adds to its premium looks.
interior
Talking about its interior, it has been given an all black theme with golden accents everywhere from the dashboard to the bottom of the central console, which gives it a more premium touch. It has the most luxurious cabin ever in a Maruti car, which gets black leather upholstery with leather inserts for the dashboard and contrast stitching. All its features are almost similar to the Highcross, including dual zone climate control for the second row, 360-degree camera view, cooled seats, powered handbrake, rear door sunshade, cooled cup holders, powered tailgate, etc. The keys, dash mounted gear lever and the touchscreen are also exactly the same. There are very comfortable captain seats at the rear and there is plenty of floor space as well. You can manually adjust the seat and it has a personalized cup holder and a lot more. The large panoramic sunroof with mood lighting adds to the fun experience and it can seat adults comfortably in the third row as well.
powertrain
Unlike the Highcross, the Invicto only gets a hybrid powertrain, which seems like the right decision from the company considering its demand. The strong hybrid combination with the eCVT generates around 180bhp of power. This is the first Maruti car to not have a manual gearbox. Its driving experience is very smooth, silent and perfect for city use. You can run it in electric mode at low speed. It is also very easy to drive despite its large size with light steering. It has multiple drive modes but the power mode is a bit more fun while the eco mode is sufficient for casual use. In this, you will get a mileage of 17-18 kmpl in city use, which is quite high for such a big car. The smaller 17 inch wheels makes it a great family car for long comfortable journeys.
great family car
It is much cheaper than the top-end Highcross with the top-end variant coming with a price tag of Rs.28.4 lakhs. However, Maruti has removed the Ottoman seats, JBL audio system and ADAS features. Due to which there has been a huge reduction in its price. Along with this, the company’s large Nexa network will also play a tremendous role in its market sales. Hence the Invicto is one of the most comfortable family cars currently, with the feel of the Innova Hycross at a lower price point.
conclusion
We liked the price, the black interiors and the hybrid powertrain, though it misses out on the ADAS and JBL audio system.
