Maruti eVX Speed: Maruti Suzuki showcased its first electric SUV concept eVX at the 2023 Auto Expo. It can be launched during the festive season before Diwali of 2024. This new SUV will compete with the MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400 and next year’s upcoming Tata Curve and Hyundai Creta EV.
design details
The company has started testing the new EVX electric SUV in Poland. It has recently been seen at a charging station in Krakow, Poland. The model was completely covered with thick black cloth. However, still some of its details have come to the fore. The SUV looks quite similar to the concept version that was showcased earlier this year. However, some changes have been made to its styling. Major changes have been made to the front fascia, which gets more realistic design elements with fewer flares. The large front fascia, sculpted bonnet design, closed front grille and thick body cladding have been retained. It gets a shark fin antenna, roof integrated spoiler at the rear, strong bumper and wraparound tail-lamps connected via an LED strip.
Testing is in the initial phase
The testing mule gets temporary lighting and basic alloy wheels, which will be replaced on the production model. Like the Maruti Swift, the rear door handles have also been given in the C-pillar. It is currently in the initial stage of testing, and the interior is partially finished with wires hanging all around. The SUV gets a large single screen panel for the instrumentation as well as the infotainment unit. It gets a clean dashboard layout and a two-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls and a rotary dial on the center console. There is also an electrically adjustable driver seat in it.
how much will be the range
The new Maruti EVX will be based on the Born-EV or Skateboard platform, which will be used by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota for their fully electric cars. The new SUV will be offered with a 60 kWh battery pack with LFP blade cell, which is expected to offer a range of up to 550 km on a single charge. The concept car measures 4300 mm in length, 1800 mm in width and 1600 mm in height and has a wheelbase of around 2700 mm. It will be produced at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant.
Will compete with Tata Curve EV
It will be a 5 seater electric compact SUV-coupe, built on Tata’s Gen2 platform and will use the Ziptron EV powertrain. Its range can be up to 500 kilometers.
