Cosmetics Sale in India: Women’s fondness for grooming is not hidden from anyone and Indian women are a little more prosperous in this matter. They have many such cosmetic or makeup items which women do not use abroad. Now such a figure has come regarding the purchase of makeup items in the country which may surprise you.
The expansion of the cosmetic market in India is becoming so huge that one can be surprised. According to a preliminary study conducted in India by Kantar Worldpanel, Indian buyers in the country have spent Rs 5000 crore on cosmetics products in the last 6 months. About 10 crore cosmetics products have been purchased for this. According to the data in this study, one more thing has been found that working women who buy cosmetics both online and offline spend 1.6 times more than an average Indian buyer.
Indians are ahead in online shopping
These 10 crore cosmetics mainly include products like lipstick, nail polish and eyeliner which were sold in the top 10 Indian cities of the country in the last 6 months. This is the first study conducted by Kantar Worldpanel in this category in India and its figures tell many truths about the cosmetic market in the country. This shows that in 6 months, a huge purchase of cosmetics worth Rs 5000 crore was done and out of this, about 40 percent of the purchases were made online.
Managing Director, South Asia Division, Kantar Worldpanel K. Ramakrishnan said that Asia is already the beauty center of the world and countries like South Korea are setting beauty trends globally. As more women are turning to office workers, there is no doubt that the beauty and cosmetics sector is going to expand and progress further in the future.
Increasing demand for different cosmetics
It has been found in the study that the sale of colored cosmetics in the last six months has been Rs 1,214 crore and this is on average. Out of the total sales, the sale of lip products has been 38 percent, followed by nail products. This is a sign that Indian buyers are expanding their beauty shopping horizons.
Indian consumers are now moving beyond traditional cosmetics such as kajal and lipstick to products such as primers, eye shadows and concealers. These are being used by Indian customers from daily use to special occasions. This thing has also come out from the study.
