Jeep India Discontinued The Base Variant Of Their Meridian SUV

Jeep Meridian Base Variant: Vehicle manufacturer Jeep India has discontinued the base variant of the Meridian SUV in India. After this, now the model of this SUV lineup starts with Limited (O) MT variant in place of Limited MT, whose ex-showroom price is Rs 32.95 lakh.

Jeep Meridian Variant Line-up

After the discontinuation of the Limited trim of the Jeep Meridian, it is now available in Limited (O) and Limited Plus trim. The Limited (O) gets a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox option. The manual version only gets a front-wheel-drive configuration, while the automatic gets the option of a 4×4 system as well. While the top-spec Limited Plus trim is available with front-wheel drive or 4×4 system only with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Currently, Jeep also sells the limited edition Meridian X and Meridian Upland variants. The X is based on the Limited Plus trim, while the Upland is based on the Limited (O). These limited variants will be sold till stocks last.

Jeep Meridian Powertrain

The Jeep Meridian comes with only a 2.0-litre, turbo-diesel engine that generates 170 hp and 350 Nm of torque. It gets front-wheel drive and 4×4 drivetrain options with either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

Jeep Meridian: Features

The Jeep Meridian gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Also, it gets features like Alpine’s 9-speaker system, dual-zone climate control, 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, power-adjustable front seats, driver seat memory function, ventilated front seats and 360-degree camera. For safety, it gets six airbags, hill-start assist and hill-descent control (only on the 4X4 variant).

who competes with

In the Indian market, Jeep Meridian competes with cars like Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Skoda Kodiaq. The Fortuner is offered with a 2.7 L petrol and a 2.8 L diesel engine option. Its ex-showroom price is between Rs 32.99 lakh to Rs 50.74 lakh. Despite the discontinuation of the base variant of the Meridian, it is still the most affordable option with a price tag of Rs. 32.95 lakh to Rs. 38.10 lakh.
