Hyundai Motor Started The Production Of Their Exter Micro SUV

Hyundai Exterior Production: Hyundai Motor has started production of its micro SUV Xeter at its plant in Chennai. Its prices will be announced on July 10, while its booking has already started at a token amount of Rs 11,000.

Hyundai Xter: Design

The car is based on the Grand i10 Nios and the Aura sedan, but looks completely different from either of them. It gets a parametric design on the front grille, C-pillar and tail-lights like many Hyundai cars. The Exeter gets signature tail-lights with DRL lamps and H-pattern. The Exeter also gets body cladding on the wheel arches and doors.

Despite being different on the outside, the Exeter is quite similar to the Aura and the Grand i10 in terms of cabin. Its dashboard design is very similar to both of them. It also gets an 8-inch touchscreen, however, a full digital unit has been given for the instrument cluster, which is also seen in the i20 and Verna. The Exeter will get a first-in-segment sunroof and a dashcam, which can be controlled with voice commands. It will be available for the higher variants. The dashcam records both the cabin and the outside view, and has three recording modes – Driving, Event and Timelapse. The Venue N Line is the only Hyundai model currently on sale with the dashcam feature.

Hyundai’s 1.2-liter petrol engine has been given in Exeter, which generates 83hp power and 114Nm torque. It will get the option of 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. The Exter will also be offered with the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit that outputs 69hp and 95.2Nm. It will only get the option of a 5-speed manual gearbox.

who will compete

Upon launch, the Exeter will be the most affordable SUV from Hyundai and will compete with the likes of Tata Punch, Citroën C3 and Maruti Suzuki Ignis. Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2 L petrol engine, which outputs 85bhp and 113 Nm. The company is also going to bring its CNG version soon.
