Honda to increase prices to offset high input cost due to new emission norms

In order to counteract the impact of rising production costs brought on by the impending implementation of tighter pollution standards starting next month, Honda Motors India plans to boost pricing of its entry-level compact sedan Amaze by up to Rs 12,000 per unit. The price increase will differ based on the model’s various trims. According to Honda Cars India Vice President Marketing & Sales Kunal Behl, “We will hike Amaze prices by up to Rs 12,000 with effect from April 1 to factor in the growth in production cost due to the forthcoming severe emission requirements.”

He further stated that the business would not be changing the City’s mid-sized vehicle costs. The second phase of BSVI is now being worked on by the Indian automotive sector.  Vehicles must have an on-board self-diagnostic system starting on April 1 in order to track the driving emission levels in real time.

The device will constantly monitor key parts for meeting emission standards such as the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors to keep a close watch on emissions. On March 22, Hero MotoCorp announced that it will increase prices of its model range by around 2 per cent from next month. Similarly, Tata Motors has announced that it will be increasing the prices of commercial vehicles by up to 5 per cent from April 1, 2023.
