gather the essentials first

To clean the bike chain at home, keep a brush, chain cleaning solution, a clean cloth and chain oil with you.

Park the bike on a flat surface

Before starting the cleaning, make sure that the bike is not parked on a high or low place. Due to which there may be a problem in cleaning the chain. Also make it stand on a double stand.

check chain condition

Before cleaning, check the condition of the chain. Is there any mark of damage on it, or is it too loose or tight, dirty or worn excessively, due to which the time has come to replace it. It is also important to know this.

After checking all these, if the chain is in good condition, then clean it. For which use chain cleaner and rub it with a brush. Keep in mind that it should be cleaned not only on one side but on both sides. Due to which the dust on it gets removed and the lubricant applied earlier is completely removed.

Wash and wipe with a clean and dry cloth

After rubbing properly, clean it with a light pressure water pipe or by taking water in a bucket and after being properly cleaned, wipe it with a clean cloth. So that the moisture is completely removed from it.

When the chain is completely dry, apply a good quality lubricant on it and rotate the wheel. So that it gets set properly on the chain. But keep in mind, apply it only on the inside. Avoid applying in excess quantity. More lubricated dust works to pull the soil towards itself. If it has fallen in excess, then remove it.

Do not use bike immediately

After applying the lubricant, leave it like this for some time. So that it reaches the chain links properly and works better while riding the bike.
