Audi Q8 E-tron Sportback Review Audi Q8 E-tron Sportback And SUV First-drive Review

Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback: We have said earlier, that the e-tron remains one of the most balanced luxury EVs for our conditions due to its passenger quality and good ground clearance. Now, Audi has updated this model and named it Q8. The Q8 e-tron continues to be sportback SUV with coupe styling and standard. The Sportback is the one we drove. Which is a more aggressively styled variant with sloping roofline. Also, there is no problem of headroom while sitting on the rear seat.

Coming to the styling, the exteriors now look better with blacked out surrounds and a new grille, while the Audi Digital Matrix LEDs now run across the grille. Also, one cannot miss the new 2D logo of Audi instead of the earlier logo. Apart from this, there are also turn indicators with projector light. It also gets 20-inch alloys with self-leveling wheel caps along with full-width lights at the back. There is not much in this luxury electric car as compared to its rivals, but the right amount of aggression is seen.

The interior design looks a bit out of date, but the fit and finish is superb. As you’d expect from Audi. Apart from this, the twin screen center console as well as the digital instrument cluster has been introduced with great cleanliness. Which is still the best among its rivals in terms of adjustability and simplicity. The feature list is long and expensive, including air ionizer and aromatization, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, 4-zone climate control, B&O premium 3D sound system, power latching for doors, massage/heating/ventilation and power adjustable front seats with memory function. There is no dearth of space and neither do you feel the battery pack under the rear seat.

The biggest change in the luxury car is the increased size of the battery pack, which stands at 114kwh. For which a range of up to 600 km is being claimed. It is much bigger than the earlier e-tron. Dual motor has been used to give power to its four wheels, which generates power of 400bhp and 664Nm with drive quattro. Acceleration is quick and smooth, as you can see by the triple digits on the digital speedo.

The Q8 e-tron Sportback is a heavy SUV. But the way its speed increases, it is quite worrying. But with effortless noise reduction and matching suspension, the sheer calmness reflects the luxury of the Q8 e-tron. Its ride is comfortable and performs well on our roads as well. The steering is very light and does not require much effort. With the adaptive air suspension, you can increase the ground clearance, but you don’t have any problems on the roads even with the standard setting. The Q8 e-tron is a hassle free luxury SUV and then an EV without any issues like low ground clearance or lack of space. Audi has also tweaked the steering, which makes cornering better than before. It’s not very strong or sporty by any means, but just right. To reduce the charging time, Audi has used a 22kW AC charger pack, which will charge the 170kW power pack in just 6 hours. However, with a DC charger, it can be charged in only 31 minutes. The special thing is that the charging flap has been given on both its sides.

We expect the prices to go up a bit with these updates, but now with the increased range and sharper styling, the Q8 e-tron is probably the most complete electric luxury car out there right now because of its practicality, passenger comfortability and utility.

we like- Styling, Quality, Extended range, Ground clearance, Performance

we don’t like- Interior design is a bit conservative
