DA is increased twice a year under the Seventh Pay Commission. The increase in dearness allowance is announced for the first time in January and then after 6 months in July. The hike in July this year has not been announced yet, but it is expected that the central government may announce a hike in dearness allowance in August.

The percentage of dearness allowance that will increase under the Seventh Pay Commission depends on the AICPI data. According to the figures so far, 4 percent dearness allowance and dearness relief are set to increase. On the other hand, on July 31, the data of AICPI index for the month of June is going to be released, after the release of this data, it will be decided that by what percentage DA will increase.

If dearness allowance is increased by four percent, then the DA of the employees will increase to 46 percent. At the same time, the same increase is expected in DR. The central government can give a gift of 4 percent increase in DA and DR to 1.75 crore central employees and pensioners of the country. In such a situation, a tremendous increase in salary is expected at 46% dearness allowance. Accordingly, there can be an increase in the salary of central employees from Rs 8000 to Rs 27 thousand.
