Honda Monkey 125 launch: The Monkey 125cc bike from Honda Motorcycles is very popular in many international markets including Japan. Honda has launched its new Lightning Edition in Thailand. It is an advanced version of the bike, which gets a new color scheme along with various other cosmetic changes.

With its new profiling, the Honda Monkey Lightning Edition has been launched at a premium price point. Its starting price in Thailand has been kept at TBH 108,900 i.e. around Rs 2.59 lakh. In comparison, the standard Monkey variant costs THB 99,700 (roughly Rs. 2.38 lakhs). While the ex-showroom price of Honda Monkey Easter Egg is THB 109,900 (about Rs 2.62 lakh).

Features of Honda Monkey Lightning Edition

The Honda Monkey Lightning Edition gets a bright yellow shade in a glossy finish. The unique way of applying yellow shade on the bike makes it look more attractive. Yellow shade has been given on USD forks, fuel tank, side panels, swingarm and twin rear shock absorbers in Monkey Lightning Edition. Chrome has been used extensively in this. The front and rear fenders, headlamps, instrument console, brake and clutch levers, turn indicators and rear tail lamp are all made of chrome. It has checkered seat with updated quilted pattern. The stickering work on the fuel tank and side panels is also very good.

Engine & Specifications

In terms of hardware, the Honda Monkey Lightning Edition is largely similar to the other variants. It is powered by a 125cc engine that generates maximum power of 9.2 bhp and peak torque of 11 Nm. Earlier, a 4-speed gearbox was available in the Monkey, while a 5-speed gearbox has been given in the current version. It has been claimed to get a mileage of 70.5 km per liter. The Honda Monkey gets disc brakes on both the wheels and ABS on the front wheel. It has a fuel tank of 5.6 litres. It has off-road capability as well. It also gets raised front fenders and block pattern tyres.

Honda Monkey can also be launched in the Indian market. However, due to Navi not being much successful, Honda may decide not to introduce it in India. However, the profile of the Monkey is completely different and attractive as compared to the Navi. If launched in India, it will compete with the TVS Raider, which gets a 124.3 cc liquid-cooled engine. Which is linked to a 5-speed gearbox.
