Upcoming Hero Bikes: Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson recently launched the X440 motorcycle in India at an initial ex-showroom price of Rs 2.29 lakh. Many new vehicles are expected to enter the market in the future on this new single-cylinder platform. For this, Hero MotoCorp has recently trademarked the name Nightster 440, which is expected to hit the market soon. Hero Nightster 440 will be placed below the X440 in the company’s lineup. Being economical, it will compete with 350cc motorcycles from Royal Enfield, as well as compete with the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X.
Harley-Davidson Nightster 440: Specifications
The Nightster 440 will get a sportier and forward riding position as compared to the X440 which has a comfortable riding stance. It will get rounded headlamps, round bar-end mirrors, wide handlebar, a rounded instrument pod, minimalist control buttons, smooth fuel tank, twin shock absorbers at the rear and wide rear fender, along with a scooped rider seat. The Nightster 440 could get a wired exhaust pipe just like the X440. The design can be a bit tricky to nail down as the design seamlessly merges elements from both the larger capacity Nightster and the new single-cylinder platform. While the sporty bobber design looks attractive with the V-twin, it is not sure how attractive the design will be with the single-cylinder setup.
engine
The Harley-Davidson Nightster 440 will share most of the hardware parts with the X440. It gets a mileage of 35 km/l as per WMTC carbon cycle testing. The performance of Harley-Davidson’s 440cc single-cylinder setup is better than Royal Enfield’s 350cc bike, but it is less than Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. Triumph’s 398.15cc single cylinder. The liquid cooled engine produces 40 PS power and 37.5 Nm torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
brakes and suspension
The Harley Nightster 440 gets conventional telescopic forks at the front, which are also found on the bigger capacity Nightster 975. While the X440 gets 43 mm KYB USD forks.
