Baojun Yep Electric SUV: MG Motor India has recently launched a two-door premium electric vehicle Comet EV in India. This car is being sold at an initial ex-showroom price of Rs. 7.98 lakhs. People are liking it very much and 1,184 units have been delivered so far. The company wants to play a new strategy in the market with the re-badged Baojun Yep electric subcompact SUV, as the company has recently patented its design in India.
When will it be launched
At present, MG Motor India has not revealed its launch scheme for Baojun Yep, but according to an estimate, this electric SUV can be launched in 2025. The Baojun Yep has been designed on the Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform, which is also used for the MG Comet. This SUV will be higher and will get a boxy look.
Design
The front of this car will get a closed grille, newly designed headlamps with Porsche graphics, quad LED DRLs and a strong bumper. Also, it has 15-inch alloy wheels, square-shaped wheel arches with black roof rails and side steps, round-shaped taillamps and small rear window at the rear. The Baojun Yep measures 3,381 mm in length, 1,685 mm in width and 1,721 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,110 mm.
Features
Talking about the features of Baojun Yep, it has a 10.25-inch dual-screen setup, one for the infotainment system and one for the instrument cluster, a battery temperature management system, ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable driver seat, four USB ports, ADAS And features like a 360-degree camera will be available.
Battery and Range
Electric motor generating 68bhp power with 28.1kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery has been used in Baojun Yep Electric SUV. It will get a range of up to 303 km on a single charge. Its battery can be charged from 30% to 80% with a DC fast charger in 35 minutes and from 20% to 80% in 8.5 hours with an AC charger. It will compete with Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400. The Tata Nexon EV is currently the best selling in the segment and offers a range of up to 456 km per charge.
