6 Airbags in Cars My Soon Compulsory: The government may soon present a draft to provide 6 airbags in passenger vehicles from October 1, 2023 in India, which has already been announced. But now it can be implemented soon with paperwork.
Should have been implemented only last year
Although, the government wanted to implement it from 1 October 2022 last year, but it had to be postponed due to opposition from automobile companies and it was announced to be implemented from 1 October 2023. But now again the government is serious about it, so that the number of road accidents can be reduced.
That’s why the exercise of giving 6 airbags started
In fact, last year, veteran businessman and former chairman of Tata Sons, Cyrus Mistry, died in a road accident. During the journey, his car collided with the divider. When this accident happened, Cyrus Mistry was sitting on the back seat and he was not even wearing a seat belt, which became the main reason for his death. After which the government got into the mood of action to ensure the safety of the vehicles.
What do the figures say?
Road safety is a serious issue in the country and this is confirmed by the statistics coming from time to time. According to the data of the National Crime Records Bureau i.e. NCRB, the number of people who died in road accidents in 2021 was 1.55 lakh. Means 426 deaths every day, means 18 deaths every hour. Which is the highest in the earlier figures.
