Skoda Auto Revealed The Powertrain Specifications Of Their Second Generation Kodiaq SUV

Second Generation Skoda Kodiaq: Skoda, the Czech Republic’s manufacturer automobile company, has released the details of the powertrain of its second generation Kodiaq SUV ahead of its global launch later this year. Along with revealing the details of the exterior design and interior of the car, the company also shared pictures of its flagship second generation SUV.

New Skoda Kodiaq Powertrain

The Kodiaq will now get a 1.5-litre TSI plug-in hybrid powertrain generating 150hp power with a 25.7kWh battery pack. Combined, it can generate 204hp power. It will be mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. According to Skoda, the plug-in hybrid to be called the Kodiaq iV will have a range of over 100 km.

Also, the entry-level variant of the Kodiaq will also get the option of a 1.5 TSI petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system, which will be mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission. Apart from this, Skoda will offer another 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine option, which will come with a 7-speed, dual-clutch automatic and four-wheel-drive system.

Skoda will also introduce two diesel powertrains in the global market. Both will get the 2.0-litre TDI engine mated to a 7-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The entry-level variant will get a power output of 150hp and the high-spec variant will get a power output of 193hp and will also get a four-wheel-drive system.

Dimension

The length of the new Kodiaq is 4,758 mm. It is longer than the previous 5-seat and 7-seat versions by 61 mm and 59 mm respectively. It measures 1,864 mm in width, 1,657 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,791 mm. The 5-seat version will offer 910 liters of boot space and the 7-seat version will offer boot space between 340-845 liters.

New Skoda Kodiaq Interior & Features

The images released by Skoda reveal some other details of the SUV. The new Kodiaq now gets a steering column-mounted drive selector, a new 12.9-inch touchscreen with a display cleaner as well as a head-up display. The rear seat passengers now get a storage compartment with a cup holder on the central tunnel. It also gets a driver door edge protector and an umbrella storage compartment.

Skoda Kodiaq in India

Skoda India currently sells the facelifted version of the first generation Kodiaq. Whose ex-showroom price is between Rs 37.99 lakh to Rs 41.39 lakh. In India, it competes with Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Jeep Meridian. The Fortuner is the leader in the segment, offering a petrol and a diesel engine option.
