Top gainers losers today: In a positive turn of events, the domestic market benchmarks, the Sensex and the Nifty, closed higher on May 15, continuing their upward trajectory for the second consecutive session. The all-round buying sentiment, coupled with positive global cues, fueled the market’s upward momentum. The Sensex surged by 318 points or 0.51 percent, settling at 62,345.71, while the Nifty concluded the day at 18,398.85, marking an increase of 84 points or 0.46 percent.

Nifty Bank Reaches New Heights

Nifty Bank, a key index representing the banking sector, witnessed a gain of 0.64 percent, reaching a closing figure of 44,072.10. Impressively, all components of the index ended the day in the green. During intraday trade, the index reached a high of 44,151.70, which nearly matched its all-time high of 44,151.80, achieved on December 14, 2022.

Highlights of the Day: Top Gainers and Losers

Several stocks showcased remarkable performance during the trading session. On BSE, 172 stocks, including Tata Motors, DLF, Lupin, Titan, Godrej Consumer, Colgate-Palmolive, and AU Small Finance Bank, hit fresh 52-week highs. Meanwhile, the Nifty witnessed 16 stocks ending with losses and 34 stocks making gains in the index.

Nifty Gainers

The top gainers in the Nifty index were Hero MotoCorp (up 3.05 percent), Tata Motors (up 2.81 percent), ITC (up 1.91 percent), Tech Mahindra (up 1.52 percent), and Hindustan Unilever (up 1.47 percent).

Nifty Losers

Conversely, the Nifty index experienced declines in stocks such as Adani Entertainment (down 2.78 percent), Cipla (down 1.88 percent), BPCL (down 1.45 percent), Divi’s Laboratories (down 1.21 percent), and Grasim (down 1.14 percent).

Sensex Gainers

The Sensex gainers for the day included Tata Motors (up 3.25 percent), Tech Mahindra (up 2.11 percent), ITC (up 1.76 percent), Hindustan Unilever (up 1.57 percent), Larsen and Turbo (up 1.45 percent), and Infosys (up 1.06 percent).

Sensex Losers

On the other hand, the Sensex witnessed declines in stocks like Maruti Suzuki (down 0.84 percent), Sun Pharma (down 0.28 percent), TCS (down 0.28 percent), and Nestle (down 0.09 percent).

BSE Performance

Within the BSE, notable gainers were Zensar Technologies Ltd. (up 12.94 percent), Sindhu Trade Links Limited (up 12.25 percent), Sobha Limited (up 11.26 percent), and Coffee Day Enterprises Ltd (up 9.59 percent). The top losers in the BSE index were Subex Ltd (down 14.12 percent), Solara Active Pharma Sciences Ltd (down 6.65 percent), Ceat Ltd (down 4.75 percent), Eveready (down 4.46 percent), and NFL (down 5.27 percent).
